Cygnet.One and The Unlimited Modernize Core Insurance Platform on Microsoft Azure

Cloud-native microservices platform supports faster releases, digital operations, and future growth for the South African insurance provider

DURBAN, South Africa, Sept. 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cygnet.One has detailed its multi-year technology collaboration with The Unlimited, a South African insurance provider covering more than three million people, in a new named customer case study. The latest phase of the engagement focused on modernizing The Unlimited’s core insurance platform into a cloud-native, microservices-based architecture on Microsoft Azure.

The engagement between the two companies began with mobile development and expanded over several years to include machine learning, business intelligence, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and core platform modernization.

The modernization began with detailed discovery. Cygnet.One’s engineering team worked closely with The Unlimited’s business users to understand operational processes before implementation began. The transition was then carried out in phases, with the existing and new systems operating side by side while data continued to move reliably between them.

The new platform uses Azure Kubernetes Service to host independent microservices, Azure Application Gateway for routing and authentication, and RabbitMQ for asynchronous communication. Microsoft Dynamics 365 is integrated into the platform, while Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and centralized logging provide visibility into system health.

The modernized platform provides The Unlimited with a stronger technology foundation for its insurance operations. Field and sales teams can capture policy information without constant connectivity and synchronize data when a connection becomes available. Manual and paper-based processes are now supported by digital workflows, while the cloud-based architecture provides capacity for continued customer growth.

The two organizations continue to build on the same architecture as new requirements emerge, extending a technology relationship that now spans multiple areas of The Unlimited’s digital environment.
